New city tag line
I have changed the tag line for the Liverpool wiki from LIVERPOOL, THE FIRST WORLD CITY, to:
LIVERPOOL / One City, Six Billion Dreams.
The reason for doing this is that the original slogan make it sound like Liverpool is glad to be a first, and not third world city.
The new slogan reflects elements of Irish and Chinese cultures, important traits of which make up Liverpool's unique and diverse life force. It is hopeful and aware of the future. It is open minded and accepting. It is willing to run head first into the fantastic and demonstrate the possibilities of looking at ideas in new ways. It recognises everyone as individuals and calls for them to make their home in the city.

I fail to see where anyone reading "LIVERPOOL / One City, Six Billion Dreams" can connect it to any Irish or Chinese. "LIVERPOOL, THE FIRST WORLD CITY", needed a hyphen, "LIVERPOOL, THE FIRST WORLD-CITY".
The original was better as it connects to the world, say it is big, important and mattered and still does. We need to say we are a city of doers not dreamers. A place where you can do it and achieve. A place where it happens. A place where it did happen and is happening again.
BTW, the Irish were only a minority in the city and Liverpool was not a part of Ireland on the English mainland as the myth states. The Welsh influence is greater and virtually forgotten. Two Eisteddfods have been held in the city.

But if we do not dream, we cannot do. Maybe you do not dream enough.
Dreamers dream, doers do. The title is poor. The Irish? Keep dreaming.
Ah well, my Irish relatives say allot of things like a hundred million welcomes and thanks a million. Big numbers express gratitude/strength of passion in their everyday culture.
Sorry Mate. Liverpool is not a part of Ireland and never has been the prime influence is English (being in England what a surprise) then the Welsh (the accent is heavily Welsh based). If you think that title says Ireland to those who read it, which it doesn't, then it must be changed.
If you have thought of another, then state it here - nothing to do with Ireland though, as that is even a foreign country.
Regardless of the name change, a great site, well done. Phil
Thx, we have had a lot of vandalism lately from some nutballs.

Chris, the new amendments to the front page. Nice that a collection of positive comments from people about the city is incorporated. I would like the original comment back as they give anyone who knows nothing of the city an idea that the city is different. The comments refer to the city being a NY of Europe and a city Cosmopolitan in nature unlike other British cities with overseas influences. That set the scene and tone - the reader then know this place is not an Anycity. The comment of people about the city can follow to back up. Those comments by themselves are what you would expect any city to display about its self - "great", "like it here", etc. They add value but do not set the scene for the uninformed reader. Comments by Liverpudlians are removes to give a positive external view of the city.

The opening line on the front page says "share, & leave us a message.". It needs a comments box inserted at the bottom of the page. - Waterways
fair enough. What I would say though, is try and get a modern one in there at the top of the box. The ones there currantly are quite old. Chris @ FACT
The background colours in the text boxes are too bright. It needs light pastel colours.
Hi, I spent a while last night testing with colours but the pallate isn't that great. I really agree with you about the pastels, my aim is to replicate something seen on the bbc.co.uk website with different sections having their own colours. I will endevour. Thanks for the feedback! Chris @fact.
Is this better? Chris @fact
